Cruise Port Overview
Key West, Florida

Key West, Florida, the South-most point in the United States, is the fiercely independent spirit of the Conch Republic who symbolically seceded from the United States for several days in April 1982.

Key West is the home of Key Lime pies, Conch Fritters, and Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville.
We have been to Key West several times on different cruises over the years and we simply love this port! Out of all of the US cruise ports, this one is by far our favorite cruise port to visit. In past trips we have taken the Conch Train hop-on-hop-off excursion tour around the island, but this last visit we simply explored more of the island on foot. Even though the city on the island is about 5 square miles, most of the activity is centered nearest the cruise port and is easily walk-able. We also saw that there are golf carts that can be rented by local vendors to use for cruising around the island.
Whether you like to kick it back in Margaritaville style, or in one of the many music venues, or restaurants or street food on the island, there really is something for everyone here. Lots of good shopping opportunities abound here.
On our last cruise to this port, we walked the city shopping, enjoyed a slice of key lime pie while viewing the local architecture homes. We went through a small pirate museum/shop, and we ate lunch at the Conch Republic Seafood Company restaurant by the docks. A good day with family and friends.
Key West, Florida has a very laid back vibe and is a wonderful cruise port to explore, dine, and shop in.
