Half Moon Cay

We arrived at Half Moon Cay on Easter Sunday morning April 2026. We were the only ship in the port that day, so it made this port feel extra special and with our smaller ship (<2000 passengers) the island was not crowded at all. The tinder boats they use at this port are large and can accommodate about 250 people each trip. Other than the usual arrival and departure rushes when they use multiple tinder boats, they keep a regular 30-minute schedule between the ship and shore throughout the day so the waiting for tender boats was minimized. Don’t forget to take your towels with you from the ship.

The island is small, so we walked everywhere around the beach areas that we could. There is also a tram available that goes to other parts of the island.

As a pastor, this was the first Easter Sunday we have missed church in many years, so we started off the day with a visit to the little wedding chapel. The chapel is open and airy sporting spectacular views of the ocean!

The white sand beach is pristine, and we had a lot of time in the water and lots of lounge chair availability. The loungers are free, but the shaded clamshells are an extra cost and can be reserved in advance as an excursion or they can be paid for on-site with a credit card. There are also a few different cabana options that can be rented, but these are limited and they go fast so reserve as early as you can.

We dined at both the free Island BBQ Grill buffet, and at the extra cost Lobster Shack. The buffet did not have a lot of variety, but it was tasty and well prepared. They did have choices of salads and desserts along with the usual burgers, hot dogs, grilled jerk chicken. The conch and seafood chowder soup served in a shell bowl $7 at the Lobster Shack was wonderful. The lobster rolls $19 were good as well, although my wife prefers her lobster hot and these are served a traditional cold. ($23 for the soup/roll combo). We did not have a chance to sample any of the higher end seafood options offered at the Lobster Shack on this trip.
